The most valuable thing we can offer refugees and asylees is our friendship. Here are a few ways you can build relationships with refugees and asylees in the area while you help them adapt to life in the United States:
- Join our English & Friendship Group, where those who are looking to improve their use of spoken and written English meet with fluent English speakers to practice and build new friendships. Learn more…
- Join our Safe Haven Weekend Team and share Jesus’ hospitality to immigrants released from the NW Detention Center awaiting transportation elsewhere. Team members share the responsibility of providing meals, fellowship, transportation, and housing, as you are able. Contact Kathryn Castle (firstname.lastname@example.org) to learn more.
- Provide short-term transportation assistance, pick up and deliver furniture, or help find resources for immigrants referred to UPPC. Contact Kathryn Castle (email@example.com) to join our Safe Haven On-call team.
Have other ideas on how to serve refugees and asylees in our area? Contact Kathryn Castle (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let her know what you would like to do.
